As we head into the 2009 season, fantasy owners are full of optimism. Opinions are shared or debated throughout all fantasy leagues - afterall, it's what helps to make things interesting! Here are 10 bold predictions for 2009. Some may not appear to be bold at first glance, but if you stop and think about them, you'll find some key players that will help push you to a league championship.
Is Jimmy Rollins on the decline? We say absolutely not as he should provide his owners with a minimum of 70 combined HR's and SB's. Big deal? What's so bold about that statement. The difference between 25HR/45SB and 15HR/30SB, especially when looking at a 1st round pick at a scarce position is huge!
1. AJ Burnett will lead the Yankees in Wins and Strikeouts
2. Jose Reyes will steal a minimum of 70 bases.
3. Aaron Hill will have a combined total of at least 150 runs and RBI's, as he provides great value for those who picked him up late.
4. Juan Rivera will hit 20+ HR's, while driving in 80+ RBI's.
5. Justin Upton will not fully breakout; however, he is on his way. In 2009, he will top 25 HR's.
6. Jason Bay will have a combined total of at least 150, when you add together his HR's and RBI's at the end of the season.
7. Alex Rodriguez will hit less than 30 HR's, no matter when he returns from hip surgery.
8. Joey Votto will combine for at least 40 HR's and SB's by the time the season is over.
9. Zack Greinke, Gil Meche and Kyle Davies will combine for at least 40 Wins.
10. Jimmy Rollins will combine for 70 HR's and SB's.
